Obeying The Great Commission
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus--in the gospels of Matthew and Mark--told us to go forth into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, teaching what He had commanded, and baptizing believers in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.
He also said that signs would follow them that believe--casting out devils, healing the sick, speaking in unknown tongues, etc. We can do this because we can be filled with Holy Ghost power--2,000 years ago and today as well.
The Great Commission Goes High Tech
Historically, Christianity has been spread by individual missionaries and church planters and nomadic evangelists. However, telecommunications technology now allows us to spread the gospel through television evangelism and, during the last few years, via the Internet as well.
We believe that modern technology was given to us by God to spread the gospel. Further, we believe that much modern technology is mentioned in the Book of Revelation--as an example, angels in the midst of the heavens preaching the gospel are telecommunications satellites, and The Book of Revelation uses the term "and the whole world watched"--an obvious reference to television.
The Call and The Place of First Internet Christian Church
I was called by the Lord to create and sustain First Internet Christian Church on the Internet. I resisted this at first, being totally technophobic--but the Lord helped me overcome fear of computers. The Lord wants me to preach the whole "counsel of God" globally on the Internet via First Internet Christian Church.
From your e-mail messages, I realize how much need there is for a cyberchurch which preaches the whole gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide with John the Baptist boldness. To many people around the world, First Internet Christian Church is their main link to Christianity, as they live and work in isolation from the Body of Christ.
Shut-ins and immobile people likewise are touched by this ministry. So, too, are exceedingly smart college students and others seeking the meaning of life. My goal, upon entering heaven, is for Jesus to take me over to meet all of the "members" of First Internet Church so that we can praise Him together.
Naturally, you should belong, assist and support a strong local Christian church. But if you don't have one locally, we can help. And even if you belong to a strong local church, other ministries can help you grow in the most holy faith.
