Alquist Enterprises is engaged in a number of homebased businesses, including a major national distributorship of AMSOIL,INC. synthetic oils and lubricants with more than 250 downline Dealers, business resellers and business users.
Shirley and her husband, John J. Alquist, are owners/operators of Alquist Enterprises, based in St. Petersburg, FL.
Shirley retired from 35 years of classroom teaching in mid-2002 and has converted her 27 year AMSOIL Dealership (which she partnered with her late husband) from a part-time hobby into a fast growing business enterprise, and she engineered a 43% increase in her group income during her first year of full time business---June 2002 to June 2003.
More recently, she led her group to an 87% increase in income in the Third Quarter (July, August & September) of 2003 compared to the time period in 2002, surpassing her 70% income growth goal in her Three Year Business Plan.
This is Shirley's third major business award in five months. Two previous awards include the following:
She was named a Finalist in the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards 2003 in the Entreprenurial Academy graduate classificiation in May 2003.
And she was selected by The Tampa Bay Chapter of NAWBO, the National Association of Women Business Owners, for its annual Pioneer Award in August 2003.
In addition to AMSOIL Distribution, Alquist Enterprises offers professional public speaking and business consulting and planning through John J. Alquist, her husband.
AMSOIL,INC. is headquatered in Superior, WI, and it was the first company to develop and distribute synthetic oils and lubricants for ground uses in the United States. It celebrated its 30th anniversary in July 2003.

The Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce serves thousands of businesses a large, very-fast growing area east of Tampa, FL.
While Brandon is not incorporated, the area served by the Brandon Chamber is the fourth most populous urban area in Florida--a bit less populous than Tampa but a bit more populous than St. Petersburg, the state's fifth largest city.
