AMSOIL Master Direct Jobber Shirley S. Alquist writes, "In December of 1976, while traveling to Kansas from Ohio for a family Christmas, my late husband, Leland Sundstrom, noticed a 'pinging' in our car engine.

Upon arrival, Leland's persistent cousin, Raymond, finally persuaded hesitant Leland (a skeptical auto parts salesman) to put AMSOIL oil in our car.

We had endured the spiel of 'AMSOIL will clean your engine;' 'You’ll get better gas mileage;' 'You won’t have to change your oil for 25,000 miles or one year-- whichever comes first!' 'Your engine will run smoother and quieter.'

Well, we became BELIEVERS before we traveled through Missouri on our way back to Ohio!

That one decision has made the biggest change in my life! Here's why!

By 1979, we had become Direct Jobbers in AMSOIL just by talking to friends and sharing our experiences using AMSOIL’s quality products.

AMSOIL invited us to Superior, WI to the corporate headquarters to receive our Direct Jobber plaque, view the research labs, tour the factory and warehouse facilities and best of all, to meet Al Amatuzio, the remarkable Founder & President of AMSOIL.

What an inspiration Al was in sharing his dream of making synthetic oils for ground use following his stint in the Air Force where he was fascinated by the advantages of using synthetic oil in every Air Force plane.

This concept gave birth in 1972 in Al’s basement to the FIRST SYNTHETIC OIL to be used in cars! An energetic, positive and inspiring man behind a fantastic, high-tech product!! During the next ten years, Leland and I built a network of friendships within our group in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Then in 1986, we transferred my teaching and his auto parts skills to St. Petersburg, Florida. Our daughter, Crystal, and son, Leland Jr., welcomed the change of address as well.

Leland continued to build the AMSOIL business in St. Petersburg until he passed away suddenly in January of 2001, leaving me with this home-based business.

I had much to learn about administration, ordering, the billings, the computer programs--but I never lost sight of Al Amatuzio's dream and the dream Leland had of having AMSOIL earnings as a retirement income.

Because the products DID what was advertised and because the company personnel were very patient with me as a widow and trying to learn so much, my checks continued to flow in even after my husband was gone.

In February 2002, I married John J. Alquist. We've decided to triple our AMSOIL business within the next four years, taking the AMSOIL dream to a higher level. I also decided to leave a 35 year career in Christian school teaching to distribute AMSOIL full time in our fast-growing business.
